How recently did you test this?

Because I tried to accept a 5 CNY red pocket from a friend and it immediately asked me to verify my identity with either a local ID or bank account (neither of which are in my possession). From speaking to several acquaintances, this appears to have been a fairly recent (likely government directed) policy change (within the last few weeks).
