I thought we are allowed to travel between terminals because I have heard people who are flying out of T5 and go shopping at T3? So does that mean even if we are allowed to travel between terminals, we can be denied to access lounges in different terminals?

With BA, anyone with a first class ticket is allowed 1 guest, business class travellers are not allowed to bring a guest. If you have Oneworld status then you may be able to guest depending on your status level.
I believe shopping in other terminals is possible if you are seeking visit a particular shop which is not available in the current terminal, you can get in touch with a representative who can arrange the transfer. Heathrow is a big airport and imo it would not be worth the 1hr ish (after all the waiting around etc?) round trip just to visit the Cathay Lounge.
