But if I apply today and get approved, I can do 2 apps on my current mailers. And since if I get denied due the supposed new "rule" of 1/60, there won't even be an HP, why not apply?
My Citi AA app dates for this year are:
Jan 17 instant approval
Jan 27, approved Feb 1
March 3, approved March 4
Applied today with a mailer for 60K/$3K, and got a we'll let you know in 10 days (I think, bc I was so sure I'd be denied and have to call in, at first I didn't even realize I wasn't actually denied). Called the first number in the wiki (not the one the OP above used which did not lead to an approval), and got a real nice CSR. Due to my confusion, I told her I was denied, but was guessing it was a fraud issue, and if we worked together we could establish that I am who I say I am.
She pulled up my app based on SSN, and said I was denied due to the 2/65 rule ( not the new 1/65 supposed rule). I told her my 60 days was up 11 days ago, and she took a couple of minutes to discover I was right. So she checked with a Supervisor who agreed I was correct, I should not have been denied based on 2/60. (Wait, was I actually denied? I later found I got an email with an app # and a 10 days message. Whatever...).
So she said she now needed to do a credit check. Came back and said they could give me $5K, or take $11K from my open cards and give me $16K. I said $5K was fine. Off she went to a Supervisor to approve her work. Ok, apologies for the long wait, now off to the underwriter. Apparently calling after 7pm ET on a Sat is a bad idea, as this next phase took 20 or so minutes. She said getting thru to a underwriter at that time on a Saturday night was a problem. During this time, she said the underwriter said to tell me I wouldn't get a sign up bonus bc there is a 24 month rule. I said yes, I still want the card. Apparently the underwriter doesn't read FT. :-)
Way too long story short, I was finally approved, but only for $1,500. What? 19 year history with Citicards, CitiGold (or whatever they call it now), total CCL over 9 open cards of only around $25K, 1785 to 1820 Fico (depending in the CB), 6 figure income, and all they can give me is $1500? I said fine, just give me the card.
So if there really is a new 1/60 rule, it's YVMV if it applies to you....
Is there a chance you meant April 3, not March 3? Based on the dates you gave, that's three apps in less than 50 days.
