TK now charge for baby bassinet seating

Hi All,

Just for your information:
My colleague tried to book a TK flight for three people, traveling with their less than one year old son.
Apparently TK just changed their seating policy about 3 weeks ago, he was told to pay $ 175 per person to be ensured a bassinet (bulkhead seat) flying DAR-IST-CPH one way. The TK office in DAR had no idea about this new policy change, they just noticed that he would have to pay extra but this was the first time they had experienced this. He only got a straight answer when he called the TK office in Copenhagen, they told this was implemented three weeks ago. Seems they had a lot of complaints. To make matters worse, the bulkhead seats on their 737-900ER flying DAR-IST are not offering any significant extra leg space at all, I would understand if it was an emergency exit seat. And once bassinet is fitted, the passengers sitting on window and isle seats are going to be very uncomfortable. I would certainly be very angry if I paid extra for a bulkhead seat with no extra leg space and ended up being semi-cramped under the neighbors bassinet.

Previously, this could be allocated free of charge if you asked (first come first serve)
So on top of paying for the infant, you now have to pay extra to be seated at a bassinet.

I am not sure whether this is a part of an overall change in the policy of paying to choose a seat in advance (as on most EU/US airliners). Perhaps some of you would know?
