Hi all,

I wanted to share an experience I've had with calling United customer service. I have a honeymoon trip PDX>HNL coming up in September that we booked back in January.

In February I got an email stating that my flight was changed, and I now had a 30 minute layover in SFO. That seemed unreasonable to me, so I called. The rep assured me it was fine, and comp'd us to economy plus to be closer to the front of the plane. I got another email about a week ago and now my layover was just 20 minutes. I called back and the rep said there needed to be at least 50 minutes to get baggage transferred. So, after a very long back and forth, several holds and conversations with supervisors they changed my flight to something approaching acceptable (not a ridiculously long layover, and not getting to HNL late at night).

I then asked if there was any way all legs of the trip could be upgraded to economy plus (why not ask). She said no, but that she would put us in seats she knew to have the most leg room. I accepted, and let it go. I checked my new itinerary, and low and behold she upgraded us to economy plus on 3 of the 4 legs. Very strange, but I'll take it. However, she put us on the aisle which is a problem because my fiance gets anxious unless she can look out the window. I tried to change seats, but the site wants to charge me if I move within economy plus, even though our seats are already economy plus.

So that leads to my first question. Should I call and ask them to change our seats, or am I risking losing the economy plus seats by bringing it to their attention?

My second question has to do with the one leg that she didn't upgrade. The seat map is very weird, and doesn't match the maps on any website that I can find. I have attached a screen shot. We are in row 34, and it appears there is not a row 33. If this is accurate, that is a lot of leg room, but no storage and possibly no recline. I'm trying to decide if I should upgrade out of these seats or leave it. Thoughts?

Thanks for any help.img
Not sure about whether or not you can get an agent to move you to window without charge, but I will say that on the 757-300 (753) it's not too hard to look out the window from any seat on.

As to your second question, you're seeing the 'odd' interim seat map for the 753. For some reason a strange selection of rows is hidden.

I would move from row 34; it won't be especially nice under either actual configuration:
