I suspect this is why linked accounts require manual effort by customer to combine into the new program. If you wish to qualify for either annual or lifetime status under the SPG rules then don’t combine your accounts. Likewise combining the accounts may negate efforts to qualify under old Marriott Rewards rules and push you into the qualification rules of the new program.
