Well OP said he was planning to do some sightseeing but has cancelled that plan. From his comments it seems like he doesn't want to step out of the airport. Also, will he qualify to step out of the airport by himself... I don't know.

From an airport / city perspective Singapore is a great place to spend 17 hours... but from OP's perspective he has nothing to do there other than kill time between a ~15 hour journey hence it would be painful.
