Sometimes the cost premium of Club from LCY is not so great.

Meanwhile, the seats are always comfortable with adequate legroom and shoulder room on BACF, and the service in Club on BACF has always been good (often excellent) in my experience. Not that the service down the back is too terrible either, BACF have great crews.

For a reasonable meal, attentive service, and extra tier points, Club from LCY often does it for me and clearly enough other people too.

Meanwhile on BA mainline I may not have someone next to me in Club, but I also can't sit in a fully relaxed position except in row 1 because my knees are pressed against the seat in front of me. I would rather have one seat with someone next to me than two seats neither of which I fit comfortably into!
