This is a huge issue for me as well. It's also why I left Marriott for Starwood many, many years ago. I don't understand why they want to be stingy about this but hand out stay credits like candy from credit cards. If I'm PAYING for two rooms for my family to stay, why on earth shouldn't I receive two nights towards my elite status? I'm pretty sure the entire point of a program like this is to reward people for their business.
