While I understand that there are SPG LTPs who have over the years accrued significantly more than the bare minimum threshold of 10 years and 500 nights to the extent that they’ve got >750 or >1000 or >1500 or whatever accumulated nights they’ve got... please explain how being grandfathered to the new MPG (or whatever) LTP has materially devalued/disadvantaged/kicked-in-the-teeth your benefits in the new programme.
I don’t think that it has materially changed your benefits. But please prove me wrong without referring to what some other group of people (who have nothing to do with you and who had other prior experiences) are getting.
Let’s not forget that a hotel loyalty scheme *owes us nothing* in perpetuity and they can choose to do whatever they like with it. And we are free to choose the next hotel chain’s scheme if we want.
For me, with five more years to go to get LTP in Asia I am very happy I’ll continue to get my breakfast, evening booze, late checkouts, and suite upgrades where the property sees fit (I’m sure LeM BKK will continue to be a star property and the Sheraton Samui will continue to be a dog) and I’ll have a hugely wider portfolio of hotels to choose from to get those nights.
Chill out guys. Or go to Accor or Hilton or IHG and see how that goes.
