No blackout dates indeed, but with SPG the inventory was guaranteed as long as rooms were for sale - and if standard rooms were available, you were always guaranteed a room. Marriott has never done this, and although inventory generally aligns, it no longer has to, in my interpretation, which would mean availability games now become possible.
