It seems as if there can be a simple solution to this. If a member (Starwood or Marriott) meets the qualification for Marriott LT status under the old rules on (pick one) August 1 or December 31 he/she will be grandfathered in to LTPP.
If you meet the qualification for Marriott LT PLT under the old rules by 12/31, you
will earn LTPP. I don't think there's confusion there, and I don't see what it's a solution to.
