Marriott and Starwood really need to put out an official statement on this. It seems clear that we have until 12/31 to lock up lifetime status under the old program but this brings up questions.
I'm looking at my upcoming travel and I will have a lot of travel after August, when the two programs merge. If I decide to gun for lifetime Marriott Platinum Premier status, can I actually stay in Starwood properties to get grandfathered in after that point? Or do I have to stay in legacy Marriott properties even after August? What happens to our account actual numbers, do we keep our Marriott numbers or are we issued an entirely new account number? Do we have to merge SPG and Starwood points in August or can we keep the accounts separate?
