A 25 year old A321 will be as clean and polished inside as a factory fresh A320NEO or an A350, the food will be fine, the crew professional if a little chilled and you and your bag will arrive safely. What is missing is the personality that goes with AF & BA - which of course can be good and bad.

FWIW I've moved much more towards LH and I'm quite happy knowing exactly what I'm getting - maybe it's because I'm getting older but I prefer it.

I have had a number of issues with LH on baggage. On one flight from OSL to FCO via MUC a few years ago, they left mine and a colleagues bags in OSL having told us three times that it was in Munich. That after scanning our bag tags to check. They then didn't respond to complaints forms or social media. They acted like it hadn't happened and it took them a week to get the bags to us. That wasn't the only fault. They cancelled our original flight (the 0740 - so a long road trip from our hotel in central Oslo so a VERY early alarm call) the previous night didn't inform us. Not only that, they checked us in at OSL without mentioning the cancellation. It was in the lounge that we were told. So as a result I have flown LH twice since then and only when there was no alternative. Within Germany, I generally use Deutsche Bahn.
