I strongly doubt this will have any impact on the market. To the extent there is any Market impact, I suspect it is much more related to why this is dragging on so long. Among other things, the market will expect a name for the combined program. They want to have shown some progress before the next analyst call.
Marriott's own numbers say Marriott Rewards members account for over 50% of their nightly occupancy. That's significant. So, botching the new, combined program could have real world consequences for Marriott investors and shareholders. Look at all the heads that have rolled in corporate Hyatt over the World of Hyatt fiasco.
