So get a personal Platinum card. That grace period can be worth $100 or more per rental in a high-cost market like Manhattan. It's amazing for weekend rentals - you can, say, pick up at 5pm on Friday and return by 9pm on Sunday and only have to pay for two days, not three. (Though as alluded, the Amex Plat rate isn't always the best and, sometimes even my USAA CDP gives a better rate for 3 days than Amex Plat for 2).

The "net" cost of the platinum card is $550 less the $200 airline incidental credit less the $200 Uber credit = $150, with ways to take it down even further (including the grace period). (Though this is not the place to discuss the "difficulty" for some to fully utilize the airline/Uber credits).
