In addition to what Snuggs said, if AA domestic -> AA international, 86 minutes seems like "enough time" to comfortably make it between any two gates in T3. Even with a 45-minute delay, you'd probably still have time to make it to your next gate without running, so there is some buffer time. Personally, I'd be comfortable booking this. But, only you can decide your personal tolerance for risk, etc.
