Never a problem
The number has changed and you have the most current one. My Avis Preferred membership has the last two digits changed, but the same discount still applies. Like the previous poster, I have never been asked to show affiliation, but once. That was the first rental I had as a Preferred member and never received my Wizard number (I gave it to the counter to eliminate any issues). Now, my cars are pre-assigned, and I onl go to the counter to give a coupon. The "Free Weekend Day" coupons are greatness.
