The term "children" is defined a child who use in-flight car seats or the use of a stroller which will require tagging. I generally add the term "pre-school age children". This should also apply when an adult passenger may be traveling with two or more young children.

The term passengers requiring "assistance" is defined as those who require physical assistance in the boarding process or require pre-boarding (i.e. use of oxygen, unaccompanied minors, wheelchairs, etc). I have heard the term passengers who need extra time which really opens the flood gates. I generally announce passengers who require "the assistance of an agent" during boarding.

A good agent will pre-identify folks who meet these definitions and control the boarding flow. After all the intent of the process is to allow those passengers that truly require assistance to board and get comfortable. The end result also allows for a quick and efficient boarding process.
