There is no "say" about it. Choice Privileges is the only program with such tight booking windows.

You keep mentioning your relatives' past stays. This is FlyerTalk, which is mostly about points and miles. Did/do you relatives collect hotel points in all these program they stay in? And even if they did, these hotel program have changed a lot over time. (But you used "is" ie present tense, so how hotels were different way back when shouldn't be a factor in a present-day comparison. For example, one Super 8 I stay at improved its breakfast "radically" in the past year or two. If that was brand-wide -- I dunno -- opinions about the Super 8 breakfast from three years ago would already be invalid.)

Once you factor in the points program (the main focus of Flyertalk), WyndhamRewards is better than Choice on the points redemption side. You can redeem a year ahead with WyndhamRewards, but only 30 to 120 days (depending on your status level, if any, and depending on where you're redeeming) with Choice Privileges. How in the world is only being able to redeem 30 days out (instead of up to a year out) "better in every respect"? Next, every WyndhamRewards property is 15k points, while Choice ranges from 8k points (rare) to 75k points. How is up to 75k points "better in every respect" than 15k points always?
