From my research on here despite having to re-clear security it sounds fairly foolproof at INV to do a B2B. I am doing the same routing via INV (but onward to EWR), and I'm going for the B2B personally. Never done one before, though.
Normally when positioning for ex-EU rather than do a B2B I try to fly from LCY (say to AMS), as LCY is closer to where I live and I can rock up T-40 with ease. The late check in at LCY and shorter travel to airport in that case gives me at least some benefit back over flying direct from LHR!
