It helps to be security ready - so empty pockets etc. INV is a shoes off airport as well - well it has been when I've gone through.
I've done a couple of ex-INVs and the first was a little tight due to a busy easy jet flight departing not long after the BA flight. The next was less busy but security was held up by the woman scanning BPs having to stop to bring a load of trays back for people to use Though I did manage 10 minutes in the lounge!
Did the INV b2b twice in the last week or so. First time on Thursday was somewhat challenging with security taking between 15-20 minutes but they were expediting people if their flight was boarding, just had to talk to the boarding pass check agent. Yesterday it took about 8 minutes to go from plane and back to gate. I didn't bother going to the lounge but there would have been at least 10 minutes possible in there.
(Oh, and shoes didn't need to come off.)
Edit: Process is fairly straight forward. You go through international arrivals, with no-one at the passport check desk. In the baggage hall you come to, turn straight right towards the exit and carry on walking. You eventually get to the terminal after a minute or so, keep walking past the glass screens which cover security and then just come back on yourself to do it. Doesn't take long at all.
