I agree on the nightmare part, but the additional baggage allowance is very important to us, and at the moment it's nothing that other carriers offer. We fly to Tier 2 cities in India that aren't served by many international airlines that connect to Europe and North America other than the ME3--so my choices are effectively whittled down to Qatar (oneworld), or Etihad or Emirates, the latter two independent and operating code shares on a case by case basis. We normally travel from major cities like Chicago or Washington served by all three ME3 carriers, so codesharing isn't normally an issue for us, and we don't have complications with the baggage allowances.
