I've never stayed at a Westin that I would consider to be a luxury or even premium hotel. If I had to classify Westin, I would call it a classic hotel. Nothing special, but generally consistent. And unlike the flagship Marriott brand, where little things -- notepads or stationary, mouthwash, bathrobes and slippers, and now room service -- have been scaled back or are almost non-existent, Westin seems to have kept the trappings of a full-service hotel.

I can think of at least two Westins that provided premium experiences- the Westin Excelsior Rome & the Westin Excelsior Florence.
