You should still have your 24 hr cancellation window, I can't say what type of voucher you would get, but I would be expecting one.

If you know what change you need to have made, call up AA and I think they can process it as an exchange transaction without issuing a voucher. Unless your new flight is cheaper, then your change would be in a voucher form.
