Where I come from, "I need you to...." is a brusque, bordering on rude, way to make a request. But that aside, since when did it become a passenger responsibility to close the overheads? What's next: "I need you to distribute meals to rows 1-5...."?
So UA is probably planning to implement BE in all INTL trips and imposing a charge to customers who want the bin closed by the FA. These FAs who don't even understand a proper way to address to customers in a service industry are why some people hate UA so much.
