Could be. However the airport is not responsible for not having a system to track where the bag is. The airline is. And BTW all the people I dealt with at the Cusco airport were in LATAM uniform.

Even if my bag was lost or misplaced, I would have felt much better, once I reported it and they typed in the baggage claim number had they replied with a - sorry your bag is still in Lima and will be sent to your hotel once it arrives at the next flight or sorry - your bag was not unloaded, the next flight back is tomorrow, you will get it sometime tomorrow afternoon. As I said i dealt with missing luggage before and once I gave the airline the claim Id i had some information back that helped me plan. e.g. Lufthansa, United, AA etc

Thinking back at the events - one of the reasons I dd not go replace the items I needed was because I had no idea if my bag will show up at the hotel that night or it was totally lost, or I will get it in 1 week.

To make it very clear - From the time my bag did not show up at baggage claim until it got delivered at the hotel I had zero information of what was going on. WorldTracer status changed from "your bag is in the process of being located, to your bag is in the process of being delivered, about 1 hour before the bag arrived at the hotel and it still to this day is on that status.

I hear you all that I should have had what I needed in my carry on - I should have let the insurance deal with it and replace on the spot what I needed etc etc However I still claim that it was a major inconvenience and fairly stressful - whether on business on leisure and under time constraints the assumption is that an airline can get their act together and get your luggage to you when you arrive at your destination and if they misplace it, they can give you relevant information on what is going on.

All facts of my experience indicate that LATAM does not have a safe system to manage your luggage. You check your luggage in with LATAM it goes to a black hole. you have been warned.
