What does this actually mean? An android (human appearing robot) has taken over the job, or an app scans it somewhere/how (which app?) and how would one scan a passport on an app?

At some point a human will want to see a passport as in being a real passenger and a real passport you'd think.

You can check in for international flights with the information, can't you?
