I suspect it's not worth the certification effort for Square. Not to mention that it might open a can of worms with regard to their merchant pricing, even if they don't bother supporting debit.

Square in the US has always done 'tip adjust'. In Canada however, the tip prompt appears first (if enabled), and the reader only activates after.

They have listed the CVM message for MC and AMEX (but not VISA) since mid-2016, at least according to my receipts.
I usually use Visa so that explains the latter.

As for the former, I don't think I've paid much attention until now (plus most Square merchants aren't usually ones that need tipping). And it seems weird to adjust afterward too when the customer's there selecting the amount.
