I was somewhat surprised when my contactless Amex charge card worked in Lanzarote (Spain). It’s not that credit cards don’t work there; I just get the impression that South Europe (and Germany) very much prefers cash. I’ve not yet tried Android Pay there (and I use it for pretty much everything, when Home).
