Honestly, the new style is growing on me. But I still struggle with replying to messages on an iPad as the line of text I'm typing disappears.
I was having a similar issue, but then saw a post with a quick and easy fix. There appears to be an extra line in the text box when you start to type which causes your text to push up behind the menu bar.
After you click into the text box hit delete before you start to type and you will get rid of this extra line. Your text shouldnt disappear anymore. Hope this helps!
