I don't believe United Club passes are accepted at any place other than the United Club. This differs from the UC membership.

And there isn't exactly a Star Alliance lounge in Guangzhou Baiyun airport. With a *A business class ticket or(/and) Star Alliance gold status, a contract lounge can be used, but only those will qualify for entrance.
