thanks - it was a surprise as was about 1500miles short and was not really thinking of obtaining - luckily my partner who had the same mileage also got Elite

given he is from Manila (and a stopover is always welcome) and the good pricing of PAL we are likely to use them more for AKL-USA/Canada flights
