Virgin Holidays/Virgin Atlantic incompetence

So I booked a holiday to Barbados in July via the Virgin Holidays website. They tell you if you want to pre book seats you can do this via the virgin Atlantic website. So I tried this but the VA website would not accept my booking. On a live chat with VA they told me I couldn’t pre book seats because VH hadn’t released my tickets. I then started a live chat with VH who said VA had given me incorrect information and that I can pre book seats before tickets are released. I then phoned VA who insisted their systems would not allow me to pre book seats because VH had not released my tickets. They suggested I should phone VH and insist they release my tickets immediately. The tickets aren’t due to be released until 16th June.

After several frustrating live chats and phone calls I still haven’t managed to prebook seats for my family and me.

Can anyone explain what on earth is going on? Who is actually correct and who is giving me incorrect information? It seems totally ludicrous that I book a holiday but I am not allowed to pre book seats to ensure my family sit together and am given totally conflicting information.
