I will, although not flying until July! Just wondering whether its worth booking an airport hotel then checking in bags next morning and heading into the city for the day (without carry bags around), or just to go straight for a city centre hotel when we get in the evening before. The airport hotels are significantly cheaper than the city on a Saturday night!

A 24 hour
GVB bus / tram / metro pass costs € 7.50. This is a true 24 hour pass that starts when you first use it so check-in at say 3pm on Saturday afternoon it lasts until 2.59PM Sunday afternoon. This is in addition to the train fare to/from Schipol (a little over €10 return per person)
The
regional ticket costs €18.50 and includes trains within the Amsterdam area to/from Schipol but is less flexible than the above options. This is more of a single day pass - it runs from e.g. 00:01 Saturday till 04:00 on Sunday Morning
