Not an issue - the bag I wanted to leave in my car at LHR is my "extra cabin bag" (i.e. my roll aboard). I was planning to make do with my much smaller shoulder bag for the one night in Dublin. So, all hand baggage, nothing to be checked.

Positioning flight is LHR-DUB (a completely separate booking on BA), fairly late-ish on the previous evening.
It's a single, not a return, since I'm intending to spend several weeks in Dublin after my transatlantic travel. I can't exclude that my plans might..ahem..change at the last minute, requiring me to attend to urgent business in London.
