I love the Bristol. Have stayed there 5 or 6 times. Everyone was always nice and not stuffy. Actually was there on 9/11 and they bent over backwards to help. Rooms are wonderful traditional rooms. I strongly recommend it. (And definately eat there - it has 2 Michelin stars).
