It is a separate company and run separately - that it is a subsidiary is neither here nor there

becuase they are trivial

Obviously Jetstar does not think it important, which is really what matters. With IP telephony, calling other countries can be extremely cheap these days; why should Jetstar set up a phone number just for you ? Jetstar does not operate to Canada, so not surprising that it doesn't have a Canadian phone number

If I were to talk to the airline executives of Qantas/Jetstar- maybe I can not change the policy for me (and get my fees waived - but I do not deny that I do want my fees waived) - but if this policy were to be adopted, it would be more than a trivial change.
What principle? So what that in the US and Canada, airlines are required to offer a cancellation within 24 hours. The US and Canada are not, despite what some in that region may think, the whole world. The rest of the world does not have to do what US does

YOU made a mistake and YOU booked the wrong flight. Jetstar did nothing wrong and simply charged a change fee in line with the terms of the booking that was made

Jetstar is not required to compensate passengers for mistakes that passengers make.

You are , it seems, out by AUD60 ; next time just be more careful
