I did the Xmas version of this flight in 1985. -27 deg C and only four hours of daylight.
The previous comments about the takeoff certainly resonate. I’d flown a fair amount by then but, if I wasn’t actually sick during the climb, I was certainly very nauseous. (I was only 8 at the time so can’t blame the champagne.)
