As for the taxes, you're a victim of a premium cabin tax. UK charges passengers in J or F more than coach passengers.

Sorry Sir, this is what is known as a "stealth" tax - people who fly premium cabin pay more tax as they must be rich enough to afford it - according to this govenrment.
