The PEK Air China lounge is poor as it certainly doesn't measure up to other *A lounges in Asia. Connecting in PEK was an unpleasant experience. No assistance from Air China and the poorly staffed transfer desk had rude personnel. The Chinese immigration officers were polite and made the official aspect of the transfer process fast. Security screening on the other hand was chaos.
The old B777-200 used on BKK route has been phased out. And some ancient A330-200 with the dental chairs no longer flies international route. So Air China now only have following long haul J class layout:
1, A330-200 and A330-300
Good spacious seats in a layout of 2-2-2 horizontal flat bed seats. Normally 30 J seats with 2 blocked for crew on some routes.
2, B747, B777-300ER and B787-9
Newer generation of flat bed seats with 2-2-2 layout. Seats are slightly tilted to take advantage of the width of cabin. But the foot stool is too narrow compared to A330 aircrafts. IFE is better but seat comfort is less.
3, A350
Not in service yet but rumoured to be herring bone layout with 1-2-1 direct aisle access.
So far no plan to retrofit.
