Agreed, if you live near or plan to be near a Nexus location, then $50 is certainly cheaper than GE or TSA-pre.
I still have over a year left on my GE. I don't think it will be too difficult for me to just plan ahead and create a "clever routing" so I'm near a nexus location when the time comes.
