Talk to front desk immediately. (well, this is Andaz ... it'll have to be "guest services" or whatever trendy name they use nowadays). Tell them that an un air-conditioned room is NOT acceptable. So, knowing what's NOT acceptable, let's figure out what IS acceptable. Be polite, yet firm. Let THEM come up with options from which you can choose. (Because the remedy they offer might be more than the remedy you suggest.) Possible solutions:
- Complete refund for the nights in an un-air-conditioned room. (however, this is not a "real" remedy, because if someone said "Hey, I'll give you a FREE hotel room in Hawaii, but there's no AC" ... would you accept that deal?? I wouldn't.
- Immediately move you to an air conditioned room.
- If they're sold out, immediately move you to a comparable hotel which has air conditioning. (This should be under the "Walk" rules, i.e. they give you a full refund and they also pay for the room at the other hotel)
There's NO WAY that a guest should pay FULL PRICE (or, even 1 penny) when ALL the other rooms are air-conditioned and YOUR room is not. That room needs to be taken OUT OF SERVICE until the issue is fixed. Do not accept a discount or a partial reimbursement. Again, be nice, but also be firm. Air Conditioning is as much a necessity as a bed or running water or lights or door keys.
