An exception may be the non-CPUable Hawaii long-haul flights - I can't recall if R upgrades appear on those ahead of GS window or not.
They do not show.
The other reason names may appear on the "upgraded" list is an "everyday" award redemption, which books into JN. This fools the system into thinking it's an upgrade.
