The first Trump-branded hotel in Chicago, the Trump International Hotel and Tower, was new construction on the site where the Chicago Sun-Times building once stood. The hotel opened in early 2009. It continues to operate under the Trump name. The super-tall building has had trouble selling condominiums and leasing its retail space.

The Trump property is quite close to Hotel Chicago Downtown, Autograph Collection. The block between the two hotels is The Langham Chicago, a luxury hotel that uses part of the former IBM Building.
