Another follow-up. The CU texted me back and decided to enable my card in Japan - apparently they can do it customer by customer. I'll have my other cards and a wad of U.S. cash of course, but I'm curious now to see if this one actually lets me withdraw money. I'll initially try at NRT and then at the recommended 7-11s and post office if I need more. Thanks for the tips.
