I thought the new bedding was great. New pillow awesome. New blanket great. I appreciated the mattress pad for not having to sleep in someone else's bedsweat. Eye mask in amenity kit also good. So. 10/10 on this side of the docket.
Now, the service. Energetic crew who were excited for the new dinner set up. But boy, what a faff. Flight leaves LAX at 5. So its not a sleeper service, but its only a 9 hr flight so lets get a move on. First drink order/mains order placed promptly (no main, just appetizer pls). Drink arrives 30 mins later. Bring back the trolley pls. 20 mins later, or 50 mins after order, bread, water glass (nice) and tray arrive. Glass one third full. Wonder then if it is neat gin. No, its water. May be in short supply. 30 mins later, still no food so investigate the galley on way to bathroom. Hive of activity. Proud and exited CC. "Dinner's gonna be great". Plates of stuff everywhere. Back to seat and wait. 30 mins, still no food. Take ambien and sleep leaving my tray and breakfast order on the floor by foot stool. Woken at requested time with requested item for breakfast. So really quite a disaster for those of us who want to sleep. Old service: you could ask CC for an appetizer/desert/cheese with drink or whatever so quickly bed down. Seemingly impossible with new service despite annotation on menu that quick appetizer for early sleep.
Very disappointing all in all. Eager CC told me "there will be changes" on disembarkation. Can't come soon enough.
Side note - gosh this plane was filthy. In 10a, the grime/crap between the carpet and wall was amazing. Photos on FT an PITA, but instagrammed to BA.
Side note #2 - bags didn't make it to MUC, so first test of Menzies. And Fail. With old BA staff, when bag delayed, bags would always be on a courier that night. Worldtracer showing bags in MUC and nothing,
Seen the pic.... Go for twitter with stuff like that. You'll get a faster response

And yes.....yuck.
