Other pax will appreciate if you don't do this, especially on an overnight flight. Personally I think the A330 setup works really well for a couple traveling together.
As I went on to note, we probably only did it when we did actually get up to use the lav. I was implying, not clearly apparently, that we are a couple who can fly together without having to have ongoing communication. Might not work for others. But when my spouse wants a window seat in D1, I don't care that the setup doesn't allow me to sit next to him to chat.
Between the dogs and the babies up there with us, I don't think anyone cared what we were doing ;-)
