What is the Qantas Domestic policy on alcohol these days?

I have to admit I was shocked on a dinner time SYD-OOL QF flight the other day when alcohol cost $6 in economy.

I recall that back when the Cityflyer brand was still a thing that Cityflyer flights were the only mainline flights with free alcohol. And only after 4pm on a week day. Back then, QantasLink flights got free alcohol after 4pm every day and still seem to.

It it must be a long time since I flew on Qantas mainline domestic after 4pm outside the former Cityflyer network because I was sure Qantas was giving out free alcohol to everyone. Apparently not.

The qantas website says “Wine and beer will continue to be available on selected services across the domestic network. And as always, it's all complimentary with every Qantas fare.“ This is clearly wrong, because although wine and beer was *available* on my flight, it was not complimentary!
