Where I'm going (Friedrichshafen, on Lake Constance) it would just be nice to have the freedom to get around with a car rather than relying on buses and taxis, or getting a lift from others. I'll be on a train for the rest of the afternoon after getting back to the HBf, and I didn't want to spend another 3.5 hours on the rails.
Makes perfect sense. Just wanted to give you a heads-up, in case you hadn't actually driven the Autobahn before, and thought (as some people apparently do) that the whole thing is basically a giant Nürburgring.
